Siderno was Known as “Mocta Sidernonis” in the year 1300. Today it is a big industrial and agricultural center well-known for its wood and glass crafts and for the production of licorice and bergamot essence. A serpentine road lead to the historical center of Sidernoup on the hill.
The old Siderno has 18th and 19th century buildings and beautiful 16th century art works preserved in the Mother Church and in that one of Saint Kathrin. Some ferruginous springs can be found in the proximity territory. Many years ago the women were used to cover their faceswith an orange Kerchief, probably following a tradition introduced by the Saracens.
